The sat exam is conducted to evaluate a student’s preparedness for college-level work, and it is a standardised test. The college board administers the exam, and this system is used by many colleges and universities in the u.s. to review the applicants. Structure

It is a test with multiple choices comprising four main sections, i.e., reading, language, mathematics (both with calculator and without a calculator), and writing. It is a three-hour test with a 15-minute short break after each section.

The reading section is meant to evaluate the student’s ability to read and comprehend difficult concepts, inclusive of passages from science and literature. This section comprises 52 questions, and in most of the questions, the students should read a short passage or text and then answer.

The writing and language section is meant to examine the student’s ability to proofread mistakes in grammar, syntax, and style. The section comprises 44 questions. In most of the questions, the student should proofread or rewrite a passage.

In the mathematics section, the student’s ability to solve mathematical problems is evaluated, including chapters such as data interpretation, geometry, and algebra. The students can use calculators for mathematics (math’s with calculators). For mathematics (without a calculator), students should use mental mathematical skills.

System of scoring

The students are evaluated on a 1600-point scale. The score for each section is separate. The highest score for each section is 800. The aggregate score is the addition of scores from each section.

The students are given points based upon the performance of each section:

For every right answer in the reading section, the students get 1 point.

For every right answer in the writing and language section, the students secure 1 point.

For every right answer in the math section (with a calculator), the students get 1 point.

For every right answer in math’s section (without a calculator), the students are rewarded with 1 point.

All the points are then added to give an aggregate score. The overall score of the sat is around 1000 points.
